Originally bred as an all-purpose farm dog, the Bernese Mountain Dog took pride in herding cattle, protecting the farm, and pulling milk carts to the local dairy. The modern day ‘Berner’ is alert and good natured, with thick, long and often shiny coats of fur. As a family pet, the Bernese Mountain Dog will enjoy some physical work and a job to do. They’re eager to please and make great walking partners!
